Comparative Medicine - Anatomy and Physiology

Understanding core concepts in anatomy and physiology in human and animas are fundamental for research in this area. Therefore, starting from the history of comparative medicine, this book provides a comprehensive overview of the most important chapters of comparative medicine with regards to physiology and function in healthy individuals, contributed by experts in the human or veterinary fields. In an interdisciplinary effort the book also covers ethical and juridical aspects of laboratory animals, authored by Herwig Grimm (Ethics department of Messerli Research Institute) and by Regina Binder (Institute of Animal Husbandry and Animal Welfare), respectively. The editor Erika Jensen-Jarolim would like to warmly thank Mrs. Herta Messerli for stimulating an interdisciplinary endeavor like this book.
