CD Laboratory for Monitoring of microbial contaminants

The CD-Laboratory for Monitoring of microbial contaminants is dedicated to the development of methods of molecular biology detection methods. Bacterial or viral contamination and mold cause a hazard in many areas of the consumers or substantial financial losses.

Therefore, bio-monitoring is becoming increasingly important in neglected areas of production. Molecular biological methods offer promising alternatives to traditional microbiological detection methods. Molecular biological methods are well established in basic research and long-standing essential. Before using this highly sensitive methodology in applied fields of bio-monitoring, however, new solutions must be developed and existing methods are adapted to increased demands.

The CD-Laboratory pursuing interdisciplinary microbiological, molecular biological, chemical and technological approaches with the aim to develop an uninterrupted chain for quantitative detection of microbial contamination in the production environment.
