Internship Programme Small Animal Medicine (University Course)

The one-year Internship Programme for Small Animal Medicine was designed to provide young veterinarians with the possibility of enhancing their basic knowledge and the skills acquired during their studies as well as the chance to integrate them into clinical activities.

The twelve-month programme includes soft tissue surgery, orthopedics, anaesthesiology, internal medicine, emergency medicine, diagnostic imaging, avian and reptile medicine, laboratory diagnostics and other areas of specialisation. Contents of the programme comprise practical experience, discussion of case studies, training of students and participation in ward rounds and seminars.

Participants who successfully complete the programme will receive a certificate, which is a requirement for participation in a residency programme accredited by an European College.


  • Diploma in veterinary medicine latest at the closing date
  • German language skills (C1) and also good English skills are desired
  • one year of clinical experience with companion animals
