Vortrag von Kevin P. Francis, PhD

PerkinElmer Fellow
Visiting Professor at UCLA and Texas A&M

The result of the overuse of antibiotics is a spiraling increase in antimicrobial resistance. ESKAPE pathogens are particularly problematic and are frequently associated with hospital acquired infections. Moreover, methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) are also problematic with respect to postoperative infections, especially on medical implants.

In his presentation Kevin Francis, who has been involved in the development of novel bioluminescent reporter systems and preclinical models of disease for the past 25+ years, will show how non-invasive preclinical imaging (optical, PET and CT) is being used to better understand the establishment and development of bacterial infections in vivo and how this technology might be translated into the clinic.
