Abstract: Previous work (Schwarz et al., 2014 Link Vetdoc Parasitologie Publikationen) has shown that superinfection of sows ante partum leads to antibody production and partial protection of the piglets against experimental coccidiosis; however, the mechanisms of this protection are currently not known. Immunologically mature weaners and sows will be immunised with C. suis using different protocols to elucidate the underlying mechanisms of protection.
