In the light of recent events
Due to the current political situation our colleagues from Turkey are not able to attend our conference. Therefore minor changes to our programme are to be expected. They will be communicated during the conference.

Welcome to Vienna
Dear colleagues,
the 250th anniversary of the foundation of the Vienna School of Veterinary Medicine creates an extraordinary opportunity to invite the members of the European Association of Veterinary Anatomists (EAVA) and the World Association for the History of Veterinary Medicine (WAHVM) to a joint conference. We will be glad to present the modern premises and facilities of our university alongside with various aspects of its long and manifold history.
The 31st Conference of EAVA and the 42nd World Congress of WAHVM will take place from
July 27th to July 30th, 2016
on the Campus of the Vetmeduni Vienna.
On March 24th, 1765, the Habsburg Empress Maria Theresia decided to establish a teaching school for healing livestock diseases by means of an autograph decree that marks the founding of what is now the University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna. The first curriculum was submitted by Ludovico Scotti in November 1766, and the very first class of 30 students started their educational course on January 12th, 1767. From the beginning, Anatomy was an inevitable and central part of Veterinary education and therefore a joint conference suggested itself on the occasion of our 250 year celebration.
During the conference, we will host a common session where all participants will have the opportunity to hear and discuss the history of Veterinary Medicine, Anatomy and specifically the History of the Vet School in Vienna.
Vienna not only has a long-standing tradition in Veterinary Medicine but – due to its ideal location in the centre of Europe – served as conference site since the “Congress of Vienna” in 1815. We are happy to welcome you in the capital and cultural centre of Austria providing a unique atmosphere for a fruitful and inspirational meeting.
We are looking forward to seeing you all in Vienna!
