IVetS Information centre: research consultancy – commissioned research

Are you looking for literature on a certain topic?

IVetS provides support and advice in selecting the appropriate database for the most relevant results. Your individual needs are discussed in detail, an individualised search strategy is developed and the information is evaluated, selected and formatted according to your needs.  Please schedule an appointment. The library offers a wide range of databases, many of which are licensed. Licensed databases can only be accessed from the Vetmeduni Vienna campus or via ASA/VPN.

Are the IVetS research services available to all?

Customised literature research and professional searches in our online databases can also be commissioned. The literature service is available to all interested parties, including those outside of the university. IVetS is also designed for veterinarians who are unable to travel to Vienna.  Your inquiries will be treated confidentially. In addition to veterinary medicine and biomedicine, IVetS specialises in human medicine, biology, food science, nutrition, the environment and agricultural sciences. A fee is charged for commissioned research for companies and private individuals according to time and effort required for research.

The result of research is a list of citations from articles in journals, conference proceedings, books, reports, dissertations, etc. A brief summary and description of the article is usually available (English abstract, keywords). In international databases, searches require English terminology, including when searching for articles in German.
Full texts, journal articles, books etc. can be ordered through our interlibrary loan system. Depending on the license, factual information and original documents can sometimes be delivered.
If needed, standing orders (SDI service) can be placed.

Citation analysis:

We also conduct citation analyses. Information regarding the number of times a particular article from an author has been cited by other authors can be found in the database Science Citation Index.
