University members can publish and archive their research data in Phaidra and thus share it with other scientists and the public.

What to consider when publishing and archiving research data in Phaidra?

Clarify all legal and ethical issues before publishing your research data. Provide meaningful metadata to your research data and describe your workflows (research question, methods, etc.). Provide information about the connected research project.

Which file formats are suited for publishing and archiving research data?

Not all digital formats are suited or designed for archiving and reusability. To ensure long-term preservation and reusability of research data its file formats should meet the following requirements:

  • widely used and standardized
  • non-proprietary (not associated with a specific software or hardware)
  • open source
  • lossless or no compression

Can I apply a license to my research data?

Yes, a CC-BY licenses can be assigned to a research data file stored in Phaidra.

Can I restrict the access to my research data?

If necessary you can restrict access to your research data to university members. Be aware that the object record (=metadata) stays visible, even if an access restriction is set!
