Welcome ...

The Functional Microbiology Division was founded in 2009 to establish innovative fields of research at the interface between animal health and food safety.

Current research projects focus on the understanding of pathometabolism and persistence mechanisms of toxigenic bacteria, such as Bacillus cereus and Staphylococcus aureus. Further research projects concentrate on microbial population dynamics and epidemiology of food and animal related microbial communities, employing FTIR spectroscopy as a cultomics based approach.
