Research interests

I have broad interests in behavioral ecology and evolutionary biology and most of my academic and professional work is related to the study of animal behavior from an evolutionary perspective. I have a keen interest in better understanding the evolutionary processes that shape individual variation in various behavioral traits and how this variation can explain differences in life histories and fitness. During my undergraduate studies I discovered my passion for animal learning and cognition in general. Besides cognition, the field of mate choice and sexual selection has gained most of my research attention so far. Specifically, I aimed to better understand why females mate with multiple males and what explains the variation in female mating behaviour. Related to this question I am further interested in sexual conflict and postcopulatory sexual selection, including sperm competition. Recently, I also developed a deep interest for infectious diseases. I am particularly intrigued by host-parasite interactions and the implication of this field on animal conservation work.
