The Austrian bird ringing scheme

According to information from the two German ringing centres at Radolfzell and Helgoland more than 90% of the ring find messages arrive via Internet or email.  Therefore, following consultation with the ringers and ring readers, the web address "KLIVV.AT" was selected for the Austrian ring inscription. On larger rings the inscription reads "KLIVV.AT WIEN AUSTRIA".

The Swedish manufacturer "Mekaniska" was selected because of past positive experience with the rings previously used in Austria.  To avoid an overlap of the ring series (at least with neighboring ringing centres), new initials were assigned for each ring size. All details on the Austrian rings can be viewed in this table 1.
