Suffering lobsters and prawns

Scientists have long been searching for analogies between humans and mammals in their experience of pain. If mammals show similar behavior in certain situations it can be assumed that they have similar feelings. For invertebrates this has hardly been investigated so far. Therefore a team around the Northern Irish researcher Bob Elwood is conducting a study on shore crabs. The results indicate that also invertebrates like crabs, prawns and lobsters experience pain like we do.
