Doctoral Programme in Veterinary Medicine

The Doctoral Programme in Veterinary Medicine 2010 is a professional doctorate to further develop the ability to carry out scientific work independently  in the field of veterinary medicine and its associated professions. It aims to maintain and improve the performance of the university in applied research by contributing to research and clinical practice. Doctoral students conduct their work under the supervision of highly qualified specialists in their area of specialisation.

Training and advancement of young scientists provided with an academic foundation is carried out in accordance with the regulations of the University of Veterinary Medicine, Vienna for good scientific practice.

Requirements for admission to the Doctoral Programme

Requirement for admission to the Doctoral Programme is either

  1. graduation from the Diploma Programme in Veterinary Medicine based on the current or previous versions of the curriculum taught at the University of Veterinary Medicine, Vienna or
  2. the successful completion of a degree programme in veterinary medicine abroad which is equivalent in terms of duration, structure and requirements

Duration

The Doctoral Programme comprises a minimum of 6 semesters. Coursework amounts to 180 ECTS credits.
