Due to the Covid-19 crisis we decided to postpone the "2nd Symposium on Salmonella Infantis in Poultry" until later enabling a personal meeting.

Dear Colleagues!

It is a great pleasure to announce the “2nd Symposium on Salmonella Infantis in Poultry”, at the University of Veterinary Medicine, Vienna, Austria.

In recent years Salmonella Infantis became the leading serovar isolated from poultry meat in different countries. Based on existing knowledge and experience from the field it seems that S. Infantis bears certain challenges to be controlled.

As a consequence of this the Clinic for Poultry and Fish Medicine and the Austrian Poultry Health Service (QGV) organized a first small symposium in October 2019 at our University in Vienna. Without any major advertisement 80 people attended this symposium and contributed to lively discussions. The presentations covered a broad range from basic science to very applied subjects in the field. Based on the positive feedback and the request to continue with this initiative we decided to set up an update as the situation in the field does not indicate major improvements.

Therefore, the overall purpose of the symposium is to link people from national authorities, research and poultry production on a very focused subject.
