A Tour de Force through the History of the University of Veterinary Medicine, Vienna

The University of Veterinary Medicine, Vienna is celebrating 250 years of its existence. On the Open Campus Day on 30th May 2015, the University of Veterinary Medicine, Vienna invites you to the campus for the inauguration of the exhibition. The exhibition is focused on the evolution of the University from 1765 to the present day – from the imperial and royal horse treatments and the surgery school to the present-day University.

The exhibition invites you to a journey through time, traversing the epochs of the University. Visitors can discover unique objects and curios from a quarter of a millennium.

The exhibition is focused on teaching and research, students and teachers, animals and humans in a period of transition spanning two and a half centuries, and the future of the University. Even the words of former students, professors and rectors will be cited in the captions of the exhibits in order to familiarize the visitors with the special features of this venerable, yet highly modern institution. The abundant visual material provides insights into bygone days of the University.

The exhibition will be rounded off by the presentation of unique exhibits from the fields of research, teaching and treatment, derived from the in-house collections of the individual Institutes and University Clinics.
