Mission

The mission of VETERM is to conduct clinically-inspired fundamental, applied and translational research to better understand, treat, and ultimately prevent musculoskeletal and inflammatory diseases. To this end we study the pathophysiology of diseases naturally occurring in horses with an emphasis on the similarities and differences in disease pathophysiology between species and ages to identify molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying morphogenesis and disease and to discover new therapeutic targets. Translating clinical problems into research questions and scientific progress to novel evidence-based diagnostics and regenerative therapies, we bridge the gap between fundamental and clinical research to provide cutting-edge therapies to human and veterinary patients.
