Dr. Jolanta Kolodziejek

Research Topics:

  • Viral zoonoses and emerging viral infections.
  • Research including phylogenetic studies on vector-borne viruses (viruses transmitted by mosquitoes, ticks, mice and shrews), such as West Nile virus, Usutu virus, tick-borne encephalitis virus, bornaviruses, hantaviruses and poxviruses.

  • Study of Chemistry and Chemical Technology and subsequent graduation to MSc at the Technical University of Krakow, Poland.

  • 1996 nostrification of the MSc title at the Technical University of Vienna.

  • 2003 graduation to Dr. tech. (PhD) at the Technical University of Vienna, Austria. Doctoral thesis entitled “Phylogenetic analysis of Borna disease virus strains from naturally infected animals”.

  • From 1995 to 2005 senior technician, since 2005 senior scientist at the Institute of Virology, University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna.

Awards and Special Activities

  • From 2008 to 2009 consultant at the Animal Production and Health Section of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Seibersdorf, Austria.
  • 2010 recipient of the MiA award for Science and Research (http://www.mia-award.at/index.php?id=271 1).
