Vetmeduni Vienna Summer School

In collaboration with  Biomin®, the University of Veterinary Medicine is offering a week long summer school titled “Nutrition and Animal Gut Health”. This is a unique event for everyone interested in nutrition and gastrointestinal health in farm animals. The philosophy of this summer school is to provide hands-on training in the areas of
nutrition and gastrointestinal functional health to enable participants to directly apply what they have learned to their individual fields of work.
This summer school targets the interface of nutrition and gut health to provide the participants with deeper insights into the critical role of nutrition in digestive physiology, gut function and animal health.
By combining theory, group discussions, and hands-on training, this course will promote critical thinking and develop the problem-solving skills in the field of animal gut health and nutrition.
Participants will also be exposed to current practices of animal industries regarding modulation of animal gut health. This summer school will be supported by BIOMIN, a global leader in developing natural feed additives.

Qualifications and admission procedures

The Vetmeduni Vienna Summer School is designed for young researchers (MSc and PhD
students) and professionals working in the area of animal nutrition and animal gut health.
Precondition for admission to this school is:

  • A university degree (BSc or Diploma) in Veterinary Medicine, Animal Science, Biology or Nutritional Science
  • High academic performance
  • Proficiency in English
  • Knowledge/experience in gut physiology/microbiology will be considered an asset


To apply, participants should send a letter of interest, including the applicability of this
course to their current program, their current CV, proof of the highest degree obtained
and a letter of recommendation from their supervisor(s).
