Prof. Erika Jensen-Jarolim [Link 2] holds an MD and is medically specialized in pathophysiology and immunology.

Since August 1st, 2011, she has been holding the chair for Comparative Medicine at the interdisciplinary Messerli Research Institute. This professorship is a joint venture between the Veterinary University Vienna [Link 3] and Medical University Vienna [Link 4] and consists of two cornerstones:

1.) The Comparative Medicine Unit within the Messerli Research Institute at the ground of the Veterinary University Vienna and

2.) The division for Comparative Immunology and Oncology within the IPA - Institute of Pathophysiology and Allergy Research [Link 5], Center of Pathophysiology, Infectiology and Immunology [Link 6] at the Medical University Vienna. Her research is dedicated to comparative strategies in order to simultaneously speed up diagnostic and therapeutic developments for human and animal patients, especially in the allergy and oncology fields.

Erika Jensen-Jarolim is member of numerous scientific societies, recipient of science and society awards, and reviewer of a great number of international journals and funds. She was acting as member of the Council of the University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna between 2008 and 2011. Since 2010 she is also member of the senate of the Medical University Vienna.
