Laboratory examinations

Blood examination

The morphological and clinical-chemical examination of the blood including the collection of special parameters, such as for liver disease-specific enzymes or minerals, is carried out in cooperation with the Clinical Pathology Platform of Vetmeduni.

Blood tests can be used to confirm clinically established suspected diagnoses (e.g. liver diseases or mineral metabolism disorders).

Urine examination

By means of physical and chemical urine examination, diseases of the entire urinary tract (kidney, ureter, bladder, urethra) can be detected. For example, the suspected clinical diagnosis of "ketosis" can be confirmed by detecting ketone bodies in the urine.

By means of bacteriological examination of the urine, pathogenic germs that can trigger cystitis, for example, can be identified. Subsequently, an antibiogram is used to determine the most suitable antibiotic.

Examination for parasites

By means of parasitological fecal examinations - in cooperation with the Institute of Parasitology of the Vetmeduni endoparasites such as lungworms, tapeworms, roundworms, liver flukes etc. can be detected and subsequently combated.
