Teaching Hospital and Referral Clinic
 

The Vetmeduni Veterinary Hospital plays a key role in Austria due to its unique position in teaching, research and clinical services. Through its university clinics, it provides round-the-clock care for its animal patients on behalf of the public sector, including in emergencies and intensive care. It serves as a teaching hospital for the university’s students, whilst also acting as a referral clinic for practising vets and private clinics.

The doors of the Veterinary Hospital are also open to pet owners for necessary veterinary services and procedures. Clinically and scientifically challenging cases often yield important scientific insights, ultimately benefiting the animal patients.

Vetmeduni also offers laboratory diagnostic services. These services are available to the Veterinary Hospital and its university clinics, as well as to practising vets.
