The CD-laboratory is financed by the ministry of economics and the company partners and handled by the Christian Doppler Forschungsgesellschaft in cooperation with the universities. It focuses on method development of molecular biological detection procedures.
Bacterial or viral contaminations endanger consumers and cause considerable financial loss. Therefore biomonitoring is also gaining importance in previously unexplored areas. Molecularbiological methods are successful alternatives to traditional microbiological detection, are well established and have been essential in basic research for a long time. Before these highly sensitive methods can be applied in biomonitoring, it is necessary to find new solutions and adapt existing procedures to meet higher standards.
The CD-laboratory uses microbiological, molecularbiological, chemical and technological approaches to develop a complete quantitative detection chain for microbial contaminants in the production environment.
