Journal Club winter term 2025/26

The Journal Club usually takes place mondays 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on site this winter term 2025/26.

The course offers an in-depth examination of the current state of scientific knowledge in the field of mitochondrial membrane proteins. The focus is on the structure, function, and interactions of these proteins, as well as their role in cellular processes and diseases.
A special focus this semester is on the critical analysis and discussion of the latest research results published in leading scientific journals such as Nature, Science, and Cell. Both experimental methods and theoretical concepts that contribute to elucidating the function of mitochondrial membrane components are covered.
The course is particularly aimed at advanced students who are planning or already working on a thesis (diploma, master's, doctorate, or PhD) in the fields of molecular medicine, biology, biophysics, or biochemistry. In addition to deepening students' knowledge of the subject, the seminar also promotes scientific thinking, presentation techniques, and critical reading of primary literature.
