During the 2026/27 winter semester, the Journal Club will meet on Mondays from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the seminar room (HA05 P51).

This course is particularly suited for advanced students who are planning to write a thesis in the field of molecular medicine, biology, biochemistry, or biophysics. It provides an engaging and in-depth introduction to modern research on mitochondrial membrane proteins—the key molecular structures that play a crucial role in how cells generate energy, transmit signals, and respond to stress.
Over the course of the semester, we will engage intensively with current research findings published in high-impact journals such as Nature, Science, and Cell. Together, we will examine the experiments and modern methodological approaches described in these publications—ranging from cryo-EM and proteomics to high-resolution functional analyses—and discuss the hypotheses derived from these experiments.
At the same time, we will develop key scientific skills: logical and structured thinking, effective literature research, critical analysis of original scientific papers, and professional presentation of scientific content.
