Journal Club summer term 2026
The Journal Club takes place mondays 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. on site this summer term 2026.
The course offers an exciting and in-depth insight into current research on mitochondrial membrane proteins—those molecular control hubs that play a decisive role in how our cells generate energy, transmit signals, and respond to stress.
At the center of the semester is the critical examination of cutting-edge research findings published in renowned journals such as Nature, Science, and Cell. Together, we analyze state-of-the-art experiments, explore modern methodological approaches—from cryo-EM and proteomics to high-resolution functional studies—and discuss theoretical models that are currently reshaping our understanding of mitochondrial systems.
The course is ideal for advanced students who are planning or already conducting a thesis (Diploma, Master’s, Doctoral/PhD) in Molecular Medicine, Biology, Biochemistry, or Biophysics. In addition to deepening subject-specific knowledge, the seminar builds essential scientific skills: structured reasoning, confident literature research, critical reading of primary articles, and effective scientific presentation.
In short: a course for everyone who wants not only to follow modern research, but to question it critically and help shape it.
