Vetucation® - the central hub of online teaching

The Vetucation® learning platform is the place where teachers and students meet. Here, digital learning content is provided, accessed and discussed. Vetucation® manages many different content types and formats and offers countless functions to make teaching interesting and effective. From the digital " bulletin board" to images, videos and interactive elements, to the teaching of courses in a virtual classroom, or the provision of tools for self-organised learning by the students: Our learning platform Vetucation is the central hub of digital teaching at Vetmeduni Vienna.

Digital exams replace pen and paper

Even in exams, pen and paper are a thing of the past. Computer-based examination platforms allow far more than simple multiple-choice tests. They thus offer many advantages for all those involved - e.g. they allow the standardized administration, compilation and evaluation of exams and ensure absolutely equal conditions for all students. For this reason, a digital examination platform is also in use at the Vetmeduni. It is managed by us - in cooperation with an external service provider.

Distance teaching - the web conference as a new super tool

Covid-19 and the contact rules derived from it have taught us how important but also effective distance teaching can be. The live transmission of lectures in image and sound into the students' living rooms, including feedback and the possibility of discussion, has become standard in a very short time, but makes high demands in terms of technology and workflows in the background. We maintain the necessary platform, manage the data flow for recordings and provide the helpdesk for all users.

E-Tutor programme - An education with impact

Since 2013, students of the Veterinary Medicine degree programme have been trained as e-tutors as part of the elective subject "E-Learning at Vetmeduni Vienna". The e-tutor programme ranges from the training and supervision of e-tutors to their use in the various e-learning scenarios at Vetmeduni Vienna. The aim is to train e-tutors who can expand their interests and skills in the field of e-learning and support lecturers in online teaching.

Poll Everywhere - for interaktive lectures

Poll Everywhere is a modern audience response system that allows teachers to collect live feedback from their students during a course. Students are connected to the system via smartphone, tablet or laptop and can use it to answer questions about the subject matter, give feedback to the teacher or ask questions themselves.

Quality seal for excellent teaching

The Q-seal (Q - stands for quality) is a quality assurance tool for online courses at Vetmeduni Vienna. Courses awarded with the Q-seal meet the predefined quality criteria and thus become showcase projects. Teachers can have their online courses evaluated by us (Q-Check) and - if all quality criteria are met - are awarded the coveted Q-Seal. The award is valid for 4 semesters, after which a new Q-Check is required.

Getting to know the patient's work better - training with case-based software makes it possible!

The training of future veterinarians is wide-ranging. One of the most important tasks is clinical work with patients, the career goal of most students. Case-based software makes it possible to learn about and assess real clinical cases. We provide this software and offer advice and support to all teachers in the creation of their realistic cases.

Training and Examination Centre

Software needs hardware, i.e. computers, monitors, PC mice and keyboards to perform well. The Vetmeduni has two large computer rooms ("E-Center") with currently 110 workstations for PC-supported teaching units and digital examinations. Together with the IT Services department, we ensure that the technology in these rooms works perfectly.
