Laboratory diagnostic services

In its own EN ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accredited laboratory, Vetmeduni's Poultry Medicine offers veterinarians and animal owners comprehensive parasitological, virological, bacteriological, histological and serological examinations and dissections.

Parasitological examinations

  • Detection of parasites in poultry
  • Quantification of parasite eggs and coccidian oocysts using the McMaster method

Virology and tissue culture

  • Isolation, detection and characterization of various poultry viruses in different culture systems
  • Neutralization test for the characterization of viruses

Bacteriological tests

  • Cultural detection of gram-negative and gram-positive aerobic, microaerophilic and anaerobic germs in poultry
  • Characterization of bacteria using MALDI-TOF MS
  • Determination of antimicrobial resistance profiles
  • Salmonella testing according to ISO 6579-1
  • Analysis of environmental samples (water and dust) for selected microorganisms
  • Storage and preservation of bacteria for further characterization or as a basis for the external production of stable-specific vaccines

Histological examinations

  • Examination of organ samples using various histological techniques, including immunofluorescence and in-situ hybridization

Detection of antibodies using various examination methods:
