The aim of teaching is to familiarize students with the field of clinical and practical pig medicine. For this reason, training takes place not only on the Vetmeduni campus, but also at the Vetfarm - Medau site and on various farms in cooperation with practicing colleagues.

Courses offered

The following is required for the propaedeutic exercises at the Vetfarm - Medau site:

  • Knowledge of clinical propaedeutics in pigs (Baumgartner, Klinische Propädeutik)
  • Fundamentals and basic concepts of pig husbandry
  • Active participation in the exercises

The following is required for Clinical Rotation I - Livestock:

  • Knowledge and mastery of clinical propaedeutics in pigs (Baumgartner, Klinische Propädeutik)
  • Fundamentals and basic concepts of pig husbandry
  • Active participation in the exercises

In order to be able to organize the exercises optimally, it is recommended to know the most important diseases and their pathogens in pigs.

The exercises of Clinical Rotation I take place from MON - FRI at the VetFarm Medau.

Lockers are available in the basement of the clinic for the duration of the exercises. Deposit Euro 20,-.

Betreuung und Pflege von Patienten an der Universitätsklinik für Schweine

It is possible to complete an internship as part of the diploma or Erasmus course. Students are fully integrated into the running of the clinic. It is also possible to volunteer for a period of one month. Students are assigned according to their clinical experience or level of training.
