Students are given the opportunity to practise basic practical skills on models - in particular so-called day-one skills.

The VetSim Skills Lab comprises 107 stations (including instructions and posters) in 13 different specialist areas:

• Anesthesiology: 7 stations
• Bovine medicine: 11 stations
• Veterinary surgery: 18 stations
• Equine medicine: 11 stations
• Dermatology: 2 wards
• Small animal internal medicine: 14 wards
• Nutritional science: 6 stations

The skills lab was redesigned in summer 2025 to improve the service offered. New concepts are currently being implemented to revise both the skills lab and the individual stations and to further improve the quality of teaching and training. In addition, new simulators are being purchased to further expand the training options.
