I completed my degree in veterinary medicine at the University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna in 2022. Even during my studies, I was particularly interested in poultry medicine, in which I also completed my specialization. After graduating, I had the opportunity to work in a mobile poultry practice, where I gained practical experience in rearing laying hens and looking after laying hens and broilers.
In 2024, I also completed my training to become a certified veterinary osteopath. Since then, I have been offering osteopathic treatments for horses and small animals in my own mobile practice, supplementing traditional veterinary care with complementary medical approaches.
Since 2024, I have been a PhD student in the poultry working group under the supervision of Janja Sirovnik Košcica in the "Healthy breastbone" project. The aim of my research is to record the frequency of sternum fractures in laying hens on Austrian farms and to identify potential risk factors. We not only examine the animal itself, but also include the husbandry environment, feeding and management of the farmers in the analysis. With this approach, we want to create a scientifically sound basis that contributes to improving the sternum-related welfare of laying hens and to developing practical recommendations for poultry farming.
