July 2024

In early July, we held a joint journal club discussion at the Faculty of Mathematics (Univ. of Vienna). Afterward, a few participants enjoyed refreshments at the nearby Beaver Brewing.

A few weeks later, we were excited to continue the discussion with the senior author of the journal club paper, Dr. Guy Sella. He was in Vienna for the International Conference of Quantitative Genetics, organized by many SFB members.

March 2024

Members of the SFB met for a kick-off meeting at the Faculty of Mathematics (Univ. of Vienna).

The Austrian Science Fund FWF approved the Special Research Program (SFB)  "Polygenic adaptation: from single selected loci to the infinitesimal model".

During a 4-year period, funds of 3.9 million Euro will enable the SFB members to conduct excellent research in the field of population genetics.

The SFB is a joint collaboration of Neda Barghi (speaker), Robert Kofler and Christian Schlötterer (Institute of Population Genetics, Vetmeduni), vice speaker Joachim Hermisson and Himani Sachdeva (Univ. of Vienna), Magnus Nordborg and Kelly Swarts (GMI), and Nick Barton (ISTA).
