This study investigates dogs' sensitivity to human iconic gestures, such as mimiking the manipulation of an object. Interns will test dogs in a two-choice task, where dogs choose between two moving apparatuses based on the experimenter’s gestures. The student will be responsible for recruitment of dog caregivers via databases and social media, conducting behavioral experiments with dogs, coding and analyzing behavioral videos, reviewing scientific literature and contextualize findings, writing experimental protocols and document progress. If you are interested in dogs’ behavior and cognition, this internship is ideal. It can serve as a Master’s or Diploma thesis, part of a study program, or an extracurricular activity.
