I am a veterinarian and animal scientist focused on antimicrobial use, resistance, and stewardship in veterinary medicine. I teach veterinary public health (antibiotic resistance, transboundary diseases, Austrian/EU law, alpine farming, zoonoses, climate change) at undergraduate level.
With degrees in animal science and agricultural development (Nottingham, London) and clinical veterinary experience on farms in Austria, I integrate farm management, biosecurity, and food security into research and teaching. I work closely with the Austrian Agency of Health & Food Safety (AGES), BOKU University, the Austrian Cattle Breeders Association, and Austrian Animal Health Service on antimicrobial use/resistance, biosecurity, veterinary authority perspectives on welfare, dairy cow and calf health, livestock production and sustainability.
I am the Scientific Director of the training programme for Austrian Official Veterinarians and oversee the training of national animal welfare inspectors. Internationally, I contribute to antimicrobial stewardship, One Health, and veterinary education networks and projects on antibiotic guidelines, preparedness, sustainability, mental health, and professional identity with colleagues across Europe, the Americas and Australia.
