Open Access Fund

The Vetmeduni Open Access Fund has been established to cover the costs of article processing charges for articles published in Gold Open Access journals.

Applications for funding must be submitted via VetDoc upon the articles acceptance for publication and availability of an invoice. Please do not pay the invoice yourself, but provide it with your application. A refund is not possible. The Vetmeduni Open Access Team will check if the article is eligible for funding - criterias see below. If so, the article fees will be paid directly from the fund.

Applications will be reviewed on a first come, first served basis. Funds are limited, and once all funds have been allocated, no further requests are possible until the beginning of the next calendar year.

  • The article has been accepted for publication in a Gold Open Access journal
  • The Corresponding Author must have worked at the University of Veterinary Medicine, Vienna during the work carried out and the manuscript must include his/her work at the University of Veterinary Medicine, Vienna. University members are persons according to UG 2002 §94.
  • The Corresponding Author has listed his affiliation to Vetmeduni in the paper
     
  • A "CC-BY" copyright license has been applied to the paper
  • No other funding possibilities for the publication fees are available (FWF, EU, Open Access Agreements – except agreements with Frontiers and MDPI)

Applications must be submitted via VetDoc. To do so:

  • Click on “Open Access Fundig Portal” in the quick link menu
  • Click on “New request”
  • Follow the instructions on your screen.

Please prepare the latest manuscript of the article and the APC invoice. Both documents must be attached to the request.

Important: Have a pre-tax invoice issued. The publisher will require the Vetmeduni’s VAT/UID number. Please adhere to the University’s formal requirements for the billing address!

A request need not to be submitted via the correspondings authors’s VetDoc account. Persons commissioned by him/her (co-authors, assistants, etc.) can also apply for cost coverage in their personal VetDoc account.

After receiving the application, the Vetmeduni Open access Team will check if the article meets the funding criterias. You will be informed about the outcome of the cross-check via e-mail.

In case of an acceptance, the publication fees will be paid directly from the Open Access Fund. No further steps are required from the author(s). If possible, please add a funding statement in the author’s acknowledgment. (“Open Access funding provided by University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna “)

After the publication of a funded article, a copy of the article will be archived in the repository Phaidra.

In case of a rejection, the publication fees have to be paid from other funds. Further invoice processing is the responsibility of the author(s).
