Open Access Fund
The Vetmeduni Open Access Fund has been established to cover the costs of article processing charges for articles published in Gold Open Access journals.
Applications for funding must be submitted via VetDoc upon the articles acceptance for publication and availability of an invoice. Please do not pay the invoice yourself, but provide it with your application. A refund is not possible. The Vetmeduni Open Access Team will check if the article conforms to the funding criterias below. If so, the article fees will be paid directly from the fund.
Applications will be reviewed on a first come, first served basis. Funds are limited, and once all funds have been awarded, no further requests are possible.
- The article has been accepted for publication in a Gold Open Access journal
- The journal is listed in the Directory of Open Access Journals
- The journal is listed current or immediately preceding Journal Citation Report (JCR) and falls in the first third of its Subject Category (=Z1). If a journal is listed in more than one subject category, the best ranking category counts
- The corresponding author is a Vetmeduni member (according to UG 2002 §94) and is affiliated with Vetmeduni in the article
- No other funding possibilities for the publication fees are available (FWF, EU, Open Access Agreements – except agreements with Frontiers and MDPI)
Applications must be submitted via VetDoc. To do so:
- Log in to your VetDoc account
- Click on “Open Access Fund” in the quick link menu
- Click on “New request”
- Follow the instructions on your screen.
Please prepare the latest manuscript of the article and the APC invoice. Both documents must be attached to the request.
A request need not to be submitted via the correspondings authors’s VetDoc account. Persons commissioned by him/her (co-authors, assistants, etc.) can also apply for cost coverage in their personal VetDoc account.
After receiving the application, the Vetmeduni Open access Team will check if the article meets the funding criterias. You will be informed about the outcome of the cross-check via e-mail.
In case of an acceptance, the publication fees will be paid directly from the Open Access Fund. No further steps are required from the author(s). If possible, please add a funding statement in the author’s acknowledgment. (“Open Access funding provided by University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna “)
After the publication of a funded article, a copy of the article will be archived in the repository Phaidra.
In case of a rejection, the publication fees have to be paid from other funds. Further invoice processing is the responsibility of the author(s).
