As the official magazine of Vetmeduni, VETMED reports on the university’s wide-ranging activities in research, teaching and university hospitals; provides information on animal health, animal husbandry and animal welfare, as well as food safety; and explores issues relating to the human–animal relationship. It is published in collaboration with the Society of Friends of the University of Veterinary Medicine, Vienna.

With a print run of 6,000 copies, VETMED is published three times a year. It reaches staff and students at Vetmeduni, members of the Society of Friends of the University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna, vets, animal lovers and pet owners, journalists and other stakeholders of the university.
