Vienna Science and Technology Fund Call

The Vienna Science and Technology Fund has issued a call for Vienna Research Groups to work on Environmental Systems Research.  In line with the call criteria, the University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna (Vetmeduni) invites candidates to submit proposals to establish a new research group in any area/discipline of this field. The VRG group is expected to use cutting-edge methodologies to tackle fundamental and interdisciplinary questions in environmental research. Its research should significantly expand current knowledge and have the potential to contribute to meaningful societal advancements. Research that extends beyond academia and builds strong collaborations with non-academic partners is strongly encouraged.

The candidate is expected to propose a transdisciplinary project that supports innovation to develop effective solutions to challenges posed to animal health at the interface with humans and the environment (One Health).  Research at the University of Veterinary Medicine, Vienna focusses on animal health, preventive veterinary medicine, public health and food safety. It addresses issues of animal husbandry, animal welfare and animal ethics and is creating a scientific basis for the well-being of animals.

We offer successful candidates a long-term, tenure-track perspective with a possibility of promotion at the end of the VRG funding period (in accordance with § 99(5) UG (tenure-track)). The positions are accompanied by a generous funding package from the WWTF (EUR 1.8 million for six years, see https://wwtf.at/funding/programmes/vrg/#VRG26).
